Abstract: The National Security Division (NSD) Office of Intelligence (OI) Policy Records System is the principal general resource information system for the office. It is a manual and electronic system consisting of files indexed in alphabetical order, including classified and unclassified national security policy papers, presidential decision directives (PDD's), Attorney General-approved guidelines for foreign intelligence and foreign counterintelligence investigations and intelligence reports.

Purpose: This system was created and is maintained to enable office personnel to participate in the review, development and implementation and oversight of United States intelligence, counterintelligence and national security policy matters, and to analyze, interpret and comment upon proposed statutes, executive orders, guidelines and other directives pertaining to foreign intelligence, counterintelligence and national security activities.

Access constraints: Access to this system is restricted to NSD personnel with "TOP SECRET/SCI" clearance and a need to know.

Use constraints: This system is a general information resource for OI and NSD personnel.

Sources of data: OI does not conduct investigations. This system contains information received from the Intelligence Community, the FBI, other executive branch departments and agencies, and Congress, as well as OI's own work product.
