History of the Division's Paralegal Unit

On November 16, 1993, twelve paralegal specialists were hired by the Antitrust Division as part of its newly created Paralegal Unit. Presently, 120 paralegals are assigned to the Paralegal Unit. This program is considered to be one of the most reputable paralegal programs in the United States.

Responsibilities of a Paralegal

The Division offers its paralegals significant responsibility and hands-on experience in major investigations and litigation, civil and criminal. Day-to-day activities include:

  • Document review and organization
  • Interviewing
  • Legal and factual research
  • Preparation of briefs and memoranda
  • Trial preparation

Travel and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

This position requires:

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated initiative (must be a self-starter)
  • Ability to work under pressure effectively

You must be a U.S. Citizen to qualify for this position. A background investigation and drug test will be conducted.

Qualified applicants will be hired for a 14-month term appointment at the GS-07 level with the possibility of an extension.

How to Apply
