NexGen FOIA Technology Showcase 2.0: Now Seeking Vendors

The Chief FOIA Officers Council’s Technology Committee, in conjunction with the Office of Government Information Services at the National Archives and Records Administration and the Office of Information Policy, is planning the NexGen FOIA Tech Showcase 2.0 that will be held in May 2024.  This event builds on the two-day NexGen FOIA Tech Showcase that was held on February 9-10, 2022.

NexGen 2.0 will showcase FOIA technology solutions for federal agencies in response to existing FOIA case processing and backlog challenges.  This event will also raise awareness among agencies of the different technology capabilities to consider for future case processing by leveraging advanced technology.  Topics include:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools that may assist with FOIA case processing
  • eDiscovery/electronic record search tools
  • Case processing tools (including the collection of records to review for redaction and posting accessible 508 compliant releases)
  • Redaction tools (including tools that allow for automatic redaction of similar forms and record types including paper, digital content, videos, data, etc.)
  • Improving public FOIA reading rooms/websites
  • Improving the FOIA customer experience

Vendors are encouraged to respond to the pending Request for Information if they are interested in presenting video demonstrations and respond to questions from federal employees about their offerings.  Depending on the number of submissions, the event will be held over three days, May 14-16, 2024.  Registration information for Federal employees is forthcoming.
