ICITAP Hosts Commissioner of Royal Canadian Mounted Police to Discuss Issues of Diversity, Racial Justice, and Police Reform

On July 29, ICITAP proudly hosted the Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), who discussed, among many important topics, advancing equity, accountability, and trust in law enforcement with over 100 interagency and international participants. Early in 2021, ICITAP’s Advisory Council determined that meeting with the RCMP Commissioner would help ICITAP and our partners learn more about North America’s perspective on racial justice and police reform. Like ICITAP’s many host-nation partners across the globe, Canada has been a witness to the debate, controversy, and demand for change in the United States. As Commissioner Lucki shared in her presentation, the RCMP has not been sheltered from calls for police reform and cries for reconciliation and racial justice in Canada. ICITAP greatly appreciates the partnership and collaboration with RCMP, both in the United States as well as in ICITAP’s overseas missions. To learn more about the Commissioner’s exceptional 35-year career with the RCMP and her perspective and commitment to strengthening the role, reputation, and performance of the RCMP, as outlined in her Vision 150 initiative, please watch the ICITAP-hosted webinar at: https://youtu.be/Kc4nTbEDfJo
