ACCESS IT ONLINE: FY19 Supporting Innovation: Field Initiated Programs Grant (This webinar was hosted live by DOJ on July 9, 2018)

Focus of Training: Facilitated by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), this webinar will review in detail the recently-opened Fiscal Year 2018 Supporting Innovation: Field Initiated Programs grant solicitation. This funding opportunity is BJA’s program to encourage applications in support of the testing of new innovative approaches that can be translated to others addressing similar challenges. The solicitations contains two categories:  1) Applications from local, state or tribal governments to test a new approach that addresses a gap in the field, and 2) National or regional training, technical assistance or studies to address a need in the field. BJA Director Jon Adler has prioritized FY 2018 funding for violent crime-reduction strategies that address the needs of tribes, tribal consortia, and Alaska villages—a direct response to tribal feedback about violent crime concerns raised during a consultation and various listening sessions. During the webinar, BJA staff members will discuss the solicitation in detail with a specific focus on tribal needs for strategies to reduce violent crime in American Indiana and Alaska Native communities. Potential applicants and webinar participants are encouraged to review the solicitation to consider any questions that can be addressed during the webinar.
